Our CMS

Hopefully, if you're reading this, you already know what a CMS is (if you don't, there's a nice short article titled "So, what is a CMS?" by Step Two Designs).

But do you need one? And if you know you need one, which one do you choose? That's the difficult bit, and there's no straight answer. Everyone's needs are different and if you're unsure, you'd probably benefit from some advice.

What we do know is that many people or organisations know that they need a Web Content Management system but only for 'this page' or 'news articles' or some other trivial editing which would make the implementation of a full-scale CMS seem like overkill.

Our CMS aims to address those basic content management needs. Here are some of its features:

  • It's a hosted service, accessed from standard web browsers. No software to install and accessible from anywhere you have an Internet connection.
  • Edits, when saved, are viewable immediately on the site
  • Neat site structure view allowing you to easily find the page you need to edit
  • Ability to publish/unpublish pages in your site
  • Switchable themes and templates for your site. Refresh the look and feel of your site whilst maintaining the content.
  • WYSIWYG content editing.
  • User editable CSS, in addition to that provided in your templates
  • Configurable navigation menus
  • Upload of binary content (images, PDF/Word documents etc) to link to from within pages
  • Identify a page of content as a 'news' page, which can be summarised elsewhere on the site.
  • Contact forms
  • SEO friendly - regular URLs, editable metadata, automatic generation of XML sitemap.

Not bad for a lightweight CMS, is it? If you'd like a demo, please get in touch with us and we'd be happy to show you around.
